Do you enjoy the way you earn money ? 

A big big question ! To generate the kind of money you would like to have in your life, you have to enjoy what you do . We see people getting involved in something because they decide it can make them some money or they decide "this will work." Where is the question in that ? There is none.

The approach should be , "Okay, I like to do this. Can I make money with it ? Good. How much money can I make ? Is there a limit to what I can make with this job , this technique , or this system that I have ? If there's a limit , and there is no problem with there being a limit, then, you have to ask ,"what's the top end I can make with that I am doing ? " If that is sufficient money for you, there is no problem. If it is not sufficient, you have to ask ,"what else could I be , do, have , create or generate that would be fun for me and make me more money ?" Fun for me and make me more money. That's the key.  

We sometimes see people getting into something and start making money and then they say , "Okay, I'm making money now." Where is the question in that ? It's not a question. It's an answer : I am making money. We don't  often see people asking the question they should ask , " will this make me alI the money I would like to make ?" If it's not going to make you all the money you would like to make , then you need to find out what you can add to your life that will bring you up to the amount you would like to have . You have to ask, " What else can I add to my life?"

In these economic times, many people are asking, " What can I cut back on in my life so I have fewer bills ?" It's quite a popular approach when the economy is difficult, but it's moving in a destructive direction. It's about making your life less . The more positive point of view is , "What can I add to my life?" That question will move things in a generative direction. It's not about cutting off things that you like, it's about adding things that you enjoy and that will make you more money . There are plenty of ways to generate money that are actually fun . You have to be willing to know that it's possible and then find them. 

At times it comes to mind that we are charging less but we fear if we charge or raise our prices, nobody will buy or hire us anymore! In this way, we don't value the work we do , the product we create or the service we perform. So, what happens ? We get low quality clients or employers. And, what happens when we raise our prices? The worst case scenario is that you will get some more free time . The best case scenario is you will get more free time & better clients. 

Just believe there's is no body else in the world that does what you do. There is no competition for you. There is no one like you in the entire world. Someone may do something that's similar to you doing , but there's no one like you. If somebody wants you, they want you, and whatever you charge only makes you more valuable to them. If you are charging a lot, people know you have got to be good at what you do. All you have to do is deliver a good product. 

If you raise your rates, you may lose one or two people, but you will gain ten. If you have your own business or if you are doing a speciality thing that only you are doing , you have to charge an amount that makes you happy to do it. Don't work for cheap. It doesn't matter what you do. Never charge the going rate. It's not about  what the traffic will bear; it's about the product you create for them and how much you are going to enjoy the money they give you. You have to know you are good at what you do. And, the only way people are going to know you are good is if you charge a lot of money !

We are in an economic slow down right now due to coronavirus, and this means that now is the time to look for opportunities rather than disasters. You have to be willing to take advantage of people who are stupid enough to kill their finances and give you an opportunity and there is always somebody who is willing to do that. Let me give an example. In the current climate, there may be ones selling something valuable for less than it is worth. Someone might say that is taking advantage of them, but giving them the money they require can actually be a benefit to them. If they need 1 lac for something that would normally sell for 5 lac, and you are there to provide the 1 lac , it is a gift for them. When you give them 1 lac, you may be getting 4 lac off the value of the item, but you might also be helping them out dynamically. If all you are willing to look at is,"I am taking advantage of them," you will miss a great opportunity. And, they will miss out on the 1 lac they need. यही तो आपदा में अवसर है ! 

There is always a difference between screwing people out of money and recognising an opportunity or a good deal when it is in front of you. 

Deciding that "now is the time" does not necessarily mean that now is the right time. So, if you ask a question , you can determine whether it is the right time. We often hear stories about people who were ahead of their time. They had wonderful ideas, but the world was not ready for them. It can be described either way - "he was ahead of his time or this idea was ahead of its time."

Take an example of recent corona time. There are people who are making a lot of money, e.g., in the entertainment industry by virtue of shifting from releasing their films/creations on big screens or galleries to going OTT or otherwise virtual. A lot of businesses found their ways in door delivery options. Of course, now is the time to look for opportunities rather than disasters.

Many people are in a habit to visualise affordability of their individual clients or customers or even masters. They make differential charges - "charge one rate to one and another to another." This may work in the short run but ultimately you are making a joke of your own product.  Sooner or later hear says about your strategy spread and you fail.      

 In a nutshell, always be honest to yourself and thereby you start believing yourself. You get rid of uncertainties. And, above all, you start enjoying life no matter you earn a bit less. In no time, your clients, your customers and even your masters(if you happen to be an employee) value you, value your products & services thus making them pay you what you enjoy to charge them !
